GIVING TUESDAY: ST LUKE’S TRUST SPREADS FESTIVE CHEER IN CLERKENWELL
We’ve been eating chunky avocado toasts, stews and heart-warming soups at Central Street Café - part of St. Luke’s community-focused charity - for the past year or so. The food is ethically sourced, organic and extremely tasty; the café is lively, warm and welcoming. But more importantly, all profits go into looking after some of the most vulnerable members of our community - so everyone is actually eating good food and doing good.
This Christmas, our DG+P theme is Conviviality: a notion inspiring and threading through all our festivities from our annual party to Secret Santa giftspiration and studio decorations. For us, Conviviality encompasses warmness, enjoyment and sharing. So, when we discovered St. Luke’s Christmas plans we knew we wanted to support them.
They’re hosting two Christmas lunches this year: on the 19th December for all of their over-55s service users and one on Christmas day for local people who have nowhere else to go, who cannot afford a hot meal or otherwise spend the festive season alone. Every guest will also receive a gift.
For some this will be the only gift they receive.
So, we’re thankfully leaving the consumer madness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday behind us, and happily joining Giving Tuesday to give our support to this heart-warming initiative. Merry Christmas St. Luke’s. And thank you for spreading love and kindness throughout Clerkenwell!
