Give and Makeup: a labour of love
Working in the beauty industry definitely has its benefits; samples, demonstration events and stuffed-full goodie-bags mean we always have products to try and talk about. Inevitably, we can’t get around to using them all, there isn’t any more space at home in our bathrooms, dressing tables (or under our beds) or any more friends to give them away to.
That is until now …
Give and Makeup was founded by Caroline Hirons (skincare guru and beauty brand consultant extraordinaire) in 2010, its purpose to support women and their young families seeking refuge in domestic violence shelters.
These women leave their homes with nothing except their children and if lucky, a few sentimental belongings.
We understand that necessities such as shower gel, shampoo and moisturiser bring normality to life that we take for granted. Being able to take care of ourselves and those we love has an undeniable impact on our wellbeing and our ability to face the world.
Caroline recognised that through her work and her blog, she was receiving more products than she could ever physically get through and so Give and Makeup was born.
Originally, the initiative saw Caroline delivering her personal samples to Refuge but once the call went out to her followers it gained momentum and support flooded in, not only for beauty products but also other essentials such as nappies, femcare, underwear and clothing too.
When we first met Caroline at the CEW Beauty Awards we were struck by her drive, energy, spirit and passion for the beauty industry as well as her warmth and ambition to help others less fortunate.
We knew we wanted to get involved and are honored to be working with Caroline, delivering beautiful thinking through the branding and communications for Give and Makeup so we too can shout from the rooftops what an incredible initiative this is.
This Christmas, Give and Makeup are running the Shoebox Campaign specifically for children in shelters. DG+P’s studio, family and friends have been donating everything we can find to put a smile on the face of children who really need it.
We are so proud to be able to contribute to such an important initiative and we’re not the only ones… Glossy Box is featuring the Give and Makeup flyers we’ve designed, in 60,000 boxes this month and is running the campaign on their website.
Please help us spread the word by sharing the video among your colleagues, friends and family, collect a few items that kids would love and box a smile this Christmas.
